Viva Las Vegas

We travelled with our 6-year-old Kidsetter to Las Vegas staying at 2 hotels, MGM Grand and Bellagio.  The MGM Grand pool complex is spectacular !  6.5 acres of outdoor area featuring 5 swimming pools.  Our favourite was the famous lazy river.  A gentle currant flows through the 1000-foot-long pool and we drifted easily through the water anticipating what was around the next corner.  Would we be drenched in one of the cascading waterfalls or sprinkled lightly by a periodic mist shower?

The Bellagio did not disappoint with glorious views of the fountains.   Many an evening we were mesmerised watching the fountain dance along to the sound of music.

Each season the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden comes to life.  A 14,000 square foot floral playground in an artistic display of floral arrangements that are awe inspiring.  We happened to be visiting when fall was showcased.  Stunning !

I’m a massive fan of Las Vegas being the ultimate hub of world class entertainment.  Although Vegas is mostly known as ‘Sin City’ there are countless kid friendly options available.  I couldn’t wait to show our Kidsetter.  To avoid the grubby side of Vegas we tended to walk through casinos to reach our desired location or catch the monorail.

Visiting M&M’s world is a treat for any Kidsetter.  Levels upon levels of chocolate – simply heaven.  A wall filled with any colour or flavour of M&M’s your heart desires.  We watched the short M&M’s film, had our photo taken with M&M character and selected our favourite coloured M&M’s to buy.  Yum !

Vegas in it’s typical fashion does everything big.  What I love about Vegas, is not only do they operate some of the world’s largest theatres, they have the artistry, expertise and muscle to bring it to life for the audience and truly take you on an unforgettable journey.  This is why travelling to Vegas with our Kidsetter was so important to me and having him be immersed by the story the shows portray.  It’s quite a different experience from just sitting in a movie theatre, watching a film to being fully immersed in a live performance with all the sensory benefits.

We found these particular shows to be suitable for aged 6 and above;

  •        KA by Cirque du Soleil
  •        The Million Dollar Piano by Elton John
  •        O by Cirque du Soleil
  •        Jukebox by Human Nature
  •        One by Cirque du Soleil

These amazing shows unfolded all around you, in the aisles, above you, on stage with moving sets, people demonstrating mind blowing strength, beauty, agility and grace.  I know our Kidsetter can draw on those experiences for future reference and defy what normally what would be considered as impossible.
