Melbourne used to be known as the most liveable city in the world however Melbourne now has a new title…. After enduring it’s 6th lockdown due to COVID has beaten Buenos Aires as the most lockdown city in the world. Not a title sort after I can tell you. Coming out of lockdown and regaining our freedom sent us travelling as fast as possible. We travelled with our 10-year-old Kidsetter to the Bass Coast for a weekend away. The weather was superb !
We stayed in Coronet Bay using this as our base. Our accommodation was beautifully positioned by the ocean with an accessible playground within view from our house. We enjoyed leisurely walks along the beach at sunset. Our Kidsetter was in his element, playing with dogs, swimming and collecting shells – pure heaven !
Making the most of the surrounding areas we drove to Cape Woolamai. One of Victoria’s most popular surfing beaches. We weren’t there for the surfing, we were there to meander along the trail to the stunning Cape Woolamai.
The waves against the backdrop of ancient pink granite at Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island’s highest point are quite spectacular.
The Kidsetters enjoyed descending the Magiclands Steps so much that I thought we’d never reach the Pinnacles… they loved running up to the top of the sand dunes and sliding down the dunes repeatedly. Priceless.
Eventually we did make it to the beach and the mass of rock pools sitting at the base of the Pinnacles. The Kidsetters were absorbed in exploring all there was to discover in each of the rock pools and every single one of them needed their full attention.
We enticed them away on to the Cliff Track to leisurely walk to The Pinnacles. Note Copperhead snakes are native to the area so ensure your Kidsetters remain on the track. The view from The Pinnacles Lookout is breaktaking. To end a stunning day out what better way then to have fish n’ chips by the beach.
Our friends had booked a great fun activity for us. Kayaking with a twist ! Ever tried kayaking whilst fishing ? It’s harder than it looks and a great way to keep the Kidsetter’s active and exploring. Thankfully https://www.inverlochkayakfishingleisuretours.com/ use fancy Kayaks that are peddle driven to enable your hands freed to concentrate on the fishing. Our Kidsetter caught his very first fish. You can imagine the excitement. Bowden and his daughter were very attentive. Our Kidsetter was pretending to be in the Titanic movie standing on the front – I hoped he’d fall in, as it was shallow water, and he was wearing a life jacket. His balance was too good.
The Bass Coast is a stunning location to visit with Kidsetters at all ages.
