Disneyland Hong Kong

Hong Kong Disneyland is a wonderful place to take the Kidsetters. It is situated not fair from the Hong Kong airport and easily accessible by the MTR. It is the smallest of all Disney theme parks around the world which makes it great to get around with kids. If you are visiting HK make sure to add this to your list!

Our 3-year-old Kidsetter enjoyed the magic of a Winne the Pooh storybook coming to life. We glided through the enchanted world of Hundred Acre Wood in an oversized Hunny Pot and journeyed through some of the most beloved scenes and settings of Winnie the Pooh. A 4-minute ride, well worth waiting in the queue.

We adored watching the ‘Flights of Fantasy Parade’ and cheering as Disney Characters join this sky-high celebration with music, dancing and excitement “in the air”. Gorgeous floats depicting magical moments carry Disney Characters accompanied by acrobats and aerialists. Mickey Mouse and his pals are all decked out for the festivities—the fun atmosphere is contagious.

Our Kidsetter was immediately taken to the Mad Hatter Tea Cups ride where you spin ‘round and ‘round in a giant pastel teacup that you control. Festive music from Disney’s Alice In Wonderland plays as you glide and forth beneath a windswept canopy of nearly 50 paper lanterns. It is a peculiar kind of contraption you would expect to find in Wonderland! Naturally we couldn’t go past a stationary replica located in front of the attraction to capture a picture of us sitting in a Mad Hatter tea cup at Fantasyland.

We love seeing all ‘live’ performances where ever we travel, and Disneyland was no exception. Festival of The Lion King is a terrific stage production of a shorter version of The Lion King Musical. All the action occurs on a clever round stage as the musical re-telling of the story of Simba, Nala and Scar—for The Lion King himself. This was our son’s first stage show so I was thrilled it was only a 45-minute duration. Just the right amount of time for Kidsetter to sit still !

Next was The Golden Mickey’s which is a musical, revue-style stage show presented in the form of an awards ceremony with characters from Disney films being nominated for awards including heroism, villainy, friendship, adventurousness, and romance. Although most of the performance was not sung in English it was still very enjoyable.

Nearing the end of our magical day, we spotted Minnie and Mickey. Our Kidsetter received a ‘high-five’ as Minnie Mouse was walking past us and he has been besotted with Minnie ever since.
The ambiance is truly infectious and I think Disneyland Hong Kong would convert any non-believer that this really is ‘The Happiest Place on Earth’.
