We arrived at Coco Cay in the Bahamas with our 11-year-old Kidsetter. Coco Cay is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean.
It was perfect weather 27C with few clouds. Perfect temperature for a perfect day.
We leisurely strolled towards Chill Island. Harbour beach is a contained area perfect for swimming without waves. We met a girl from Michigan named London and my Kidsetter and her looked for shells in the water.
Next, we moved into Thrill Waterpark. From giggle-worthy tides to shriek-inducing slides, there was plenty to do to test our Kidsetter’s bravery levels. Purchase tickets in advance and save 20%.
Wave Pool was awesome fun, catered for all different age groups and was a lot of fun. It’s the largest wave pool in the Caribbean where the surf is always up.
Splash Summit had a few slides to choose from;
- Sling Shot is where four riders soar on a raft into a zero-gravity moment before plummeting.
- Twister is where 2 riders slide down a winding tube on a tandem raft.
- Splash Speedway is where 4 riders race each other down individual 40-foot-tall mat racer slides.
Our Kidsetter is adventurous and if the queue wasn’t too long he would do it.
Daredevil’s Tower is a combination of 5 slides all in various forms of scariness;
- Duelling Demons – twin drop slides launch riders 75 feet from a vertical position, water splashing in your face and in the dark. This was terrifying for our Kidsetter and he ended up crying afterwards.
- Screeching Serpent is a 50-foot tall fully vertical speed slide.
- Green Mamba is a 50-foot tall slide with plenty of twists and turns.
- Mantra Raycers; riders race down twin open flume slides.
- Daredevils Peak towers at 135 feet and it the tallest waterslide in North America.
We also had a lot of fun at the Adventure pool were our Kidsetter made fools of ourselves trying to hold onto ropes above our heads whilst stepping onto giant floating Lilypad’s that moved around loosely as your goal is reach the other side of the pool without falling in. I managed 2 Lilypad’s out of 6!
We had worked up an appetite and picked up some lunch at the Skipper’s Grill. A complimentary BBQ, fresh salads, tacos and harbour views, plus self-serve beer at an additional cost.
Next, we moved onto the Oasis Lagoon, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool offers various coves, three swim-up islands plus a sloping entry perfect for little Kidsetters. Also hosts a swim-up bar with 23 in-water seats, serving cocktails, beer and beverages, including the island’s signature Coco Loco. It was fun ordering a drink and dancing in the pool to the live music whilst in the pool. Our Kidsetter also made friends with a few others and played ball games for a couple of hours.
Finally, after an icecream it was time to wind up a perfect day on a Coco Cay.
