Palm Springs !

Embarking on a classic USA road trip with our 6-year-old Kidsetter we drove to Palm Springs, a city in the Sonoran Desert of southern California.  Known for its hot springs, stylish hotels, golf courses and spas. It’s also noted for its many fine examples of mid-century-modern architecture. Its core shopping district along Palm Canyon Drive features vintage boutiques, interior design shops and restaurants. The surrounding Coachella Valley offers hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.

Arriving off Frank Sinatra Drive and being warmly welcomed by the smiling valet parking attendants you know you have arrived at The Ritz ! With all the luggage taken care of we were whisked into the graceful reception and welcomed with beaming smiles and a glass of champagne – now this is how check-in is done !

Our Kidsetter was made equally welcome with not a hint of stuffiness – lizard feeding in the Ritz-kidz club is at 10am !

It wasn’t long before our Kidsetter made a beeline for an intoxicating lolly-bar on hand where he sampled (and me) a range of delectable sweats.  We were informed that the lolly-bar was open each day from noon to 5pm; how decadent !

Our room was modern and wonderfully comfortable with two queen sized beds and views out over the wonderful Mount San Jacinto from our veranda.

We could access the grounds and wonderful pool area easily from our room. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition and the pool is perfect for lazing about with very attentive staff.

At night pathways are lit by fire pits and fairy lights as you look out over the view of Palm Springs below. This really is country club comfort at its exclusive best.

Check on when the Ritz-kidz-club is open. While we were able to use the facilities as a family, the club was not staffed which was a little disappointing.

We enjoyed a delightful breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pool. It’s only a 15 min drive in to Palm Springs.

We enjoyed taking a stroll down memory lane at one of Greater Palm Springs’ many vintage shops. From home décor to clothing, these shops offered a fun look at mid-century style.

Unbeknownst to us, we were in town on a Thursday which coincided with Palm Springs weekly VillageFest.  A night street fair featuring arts, crafts, food and entertainment !  The locals were friendly and our Kidsetter enjoyed engaging with the various entertainers.

The evenings were spectacular in Palm Springs.  The clear skies of Greater Palm Springs were lit up with a dazzling array of stars each night, making stargazing a popular pastime in the Oasis.

There is an abundance to do in Palm Springs or simply relax.  With the combination of nature, history and breathtaking surrounding views your Kidsetters will love Palm Springs !
