Radiance of the Seas

We travelled on Royal Caribbean’s ‘Radiance of the Seas’ cruise ship with our 2-year-old Kidsetter on route to the South Pacific.

After boarding the ship, locating our cabin, attending the safety induction, it was time to kick back and relax !

We had hoped to be able to check our Kidsetter into the Royal Babies and Tots Kids Club for short intervals each day however he was adamant he was not having a bar of it !  Although we felt disappointed as we were desperately needed some off-duty time, we made the best of it.

We thoroughly enjoyed watching the Nautical News Morning Show with Cruise Director Amy and Activities Manager Gordon.  They host a cake off which is a battle as to whom makes the best cake against a speciality cake chef….. naturally the Cruise Director had to include an additional ingredient – bottle full of vodka into the cake off.  Easy to see whose cake was the most popular.  Luckily, they made a cake without alcohol just for the Kidsetter’s onboard.  Hilarious !

There is always plenty of activities for us too, however we tend to use the time to relax, swim, enjoy the live music and excellent dining experiences.

The restaurants and dining facilities are world class.  Various options are available; Windjammer Café, Cascades Dining Room, Giovanni’s Table, Chops Grille, Samba Grill, Izumi, and Chef’s Table. A standout restaurant was Chops Grille.

We relished the constant ambiance of music playing throughout the ship; Sailaway Music with the Cruise Director’s Staff and music from DJ Phil; Easy Listening with Bogart & Boyd; String Classics with Colibri Duo; Singer Guitarist – Robbie McNay; Piano Entertainer – Paul O’Shea and Dance Music with Studio Four.

We love taking our Kidsetter to live theatre and find cruise shows a fabulous way to expose him to the artform.  They are included in the cost of your cruise fare, usually short in duration and easily accessible making it ideal for Kidsetters.  Anytime our Kidsetter is becoming tired we can leave and not feel like we have been cheated of our tickets.  We watched Radiance of the Seas productions starring the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers in “Showtime”, and “Farewell Showtime”.

We enjoyed the upbeat atmosphere of Royal Caribbean’s ‘Radiance of the Sea’s.  An excellent option to spend quality family time without the hassle of having to perform daily chores, it is all taken care for you.
